ffff

When we tend to play games in our youth – games like cops and robbers, cowboys and Indians, hide and seek, and etc.  All of these games contain the idea of adventure.  Whether you’re slaying the dragon with your stick-sword or avoiding the lava-floor, it’s adventurous.

Since we all tend to play games with the idea of adventure in our youth – it’s likely we have the same urge for adventure in our older years.  We all want to go on an adventure deep down in our hearts – or be part of one, we all fulfill that want.  We fulfill it by playing DND, video games, going to parties with friends, road trips, vacations, camping, etc.  We fulfill it in many ways.

Now if we’re all adventurers searching for treasure – something to fulfill our want for adventure, our hearts adventure fix… is it possible that some treasures are fake?  If you’re sitting in your room all day playing video games are you really off on an adventure compared to you and friends journeying to a party half-way across town? Do we need the adventure fix to include or be a physical experience or can it be achieved thru mental means only?

When I play a video game though I do not see it as myself sitting infront of an interactive movie – I usually take on the role of the character I’m controlling.  I feel when I play a game – I jump when an enemy spooks up on me, I smile in triumph after killing bosses, I scream in anger when I am defeated. When I play a role playing game like DND I am worried when my ally is low on hit points and together everyone celebrates when something strong is killed.  Finally at parties, campgrounds, the wild, city parks, malls, and other places… you can experience all the same emotion – only accompanied by a lot more exercise.

I do not see any means as to why the human hearts adventure fix needs to come in only a physical form.  The fix can be attained easily and differently too depending on the individual.   Someone could listen to music and lean back in their own world off on their own adventure for a few minutes of the day.   It seems the way to get your treasure is simple.  It’s choosing how to get it that’s seems hard.  You’ll never know what treasure you’ll get too, but you can choose various types of adventures.  Enjoy your video games, enjoy your parties, but better yet… enjoy them both.

Fake treasure does not exist as treasure can be attained in any form in which the adventurer gets the fix.  The fix is mental and physical activity is only optional.  However physical activity adds exercise which is healthy and can add more to the experience.

What about the details of the adventure? Does danger have to be a part of the adventure?  When you’re playing board games with friends in a living room it’s safer compared to a rave or party full of a lot of people you don’t know.  It’s more possible to get hurt outside the house or when including physical activity.  Getting hurt or being in danger is not a requirement for the adventure as willingly endangering yourself is not within the best interest of your well-being.  Having real danger in the adventure is also only optional.  Exploring a dangerous unknown cave can be just as much as adventure fix as filming a home movie in the backyard.
